Our miniatures go through training continuously so that they can adapt to any given situation. They learn to walk on different surfaces and not step on toes! They must be able to maneuver around wheelchairs, walkers, tables & chairs as well as medical equipment such as oxygen etc. When visiting a group of people they might find themselves suddenly surrounded and have to cope with people touching them all over. Not all horses are cut out for this kind of work - it takes a special temperament. We look for that special horse when choosing a mini to train.
We require two people per horse. One to handle the front and one to watch the rear because safety for those we visit and for our horses is the utmost of importance to us.
All volunteers are required to go through training and become registered handlers with Pet Partners.
